The Russian Daniil Medvedev remains world No. 1, despite his defeat on Sunday in the final of the Halle tournament, on German grass, against the Pole Hubert Hurkacz who gains two places and returns to the top 10.
Hurkacz takes 10th place from Matteo Berrettini, who retained his crown on the Queen’s London lawn. The Italian, however, fell to 11th place, down one place like Briton Cameron Norrie (12th).
As for the Serbian Filip Krajinovic, unfortunate finalist at Queen’s, he will console himself with a good progression, from 48th to 31st place.
No other notable changes are to be reported at the top of the world hierarchy, Hurkacz having outclassed Medvedev in Halle.
This is the fifth ATP title for the 25-year-old Pole, after Winston-Salem then Metz in 2019, the Masters 1000 in Miami and the Delray Beach tournament in 2021, all on hard court, which allowed him to ranked 9th in the world at the end of last year.
This is his very first on grass, a few days before the start of Wimbledon.
Behind Medvedev, the German Alexander Zverev retains his place as runner-up ahead of the Serbian Novak Djokovic and the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who will soon become a father and whose very painful foot at Roland-Garros is much better, a-t- he indicates.
Unhappy finalist in Paris, against Nadal, the Norwegian Casper Ruud remains 5th ahead of the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and the Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz, 19 years old.
Like last week, the Canadian Denis Shapovalov and the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman exchange 15th and 16th places, but in the other direction.
As for Félix Auger-Aliassime, the Quebecer keeps his 9th position.
