With Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé as figures and players in the franchise, Paris Saint-Germain presented its new jersey that not only features novelties in design. In addition to recovering its historic white streak, the Parisian team announced Wednesday that Qatar Airways will be the new main sponsor on the chest, in exchange for a millionaire deal. How long will he be left at PSG? Between 60 and 70 million euros per season, according to French media.

The Qatar-based airline will replace French hotel group Accor as its main sponsor from the 2022/23 season, but PSG hasn’t disclosed its duration or financial amount.

The new sponsor is accompanied by a new club jersey design, with a horizontal white stripe flanked by two smaller red bands, which when added to the dominant blue means it includes the three colors of the French flag.

The new design, reminiscent of 2014, “combines tradition and modernity,” PSG said in its statement. The sponsorship agreement provides for greater visibility for the airline within the Parc des Princes stadium.

Broadcaster RMC Sports and L’Equipe have announced that the sponsorship of Qatar Airways, owned by the state of Qatar, will bring PSG between 60 and 70 million euros per season.

The Parisian club, owned by the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar, has been accused several times of having violated the rules of Uefa’s financial “fair play”, especially in recent weeks by the president of the Spanish professional football league, Javier Tebas. EFE
