Boca fans have since this Friday another object of desire. It is that Adidas presented this Friday the new starting shirt for the 2022/23 season. Like its predecessor, it is a reversal of a jersey that brings to mind great memories for the blue and gold fans. Inspired by the iconic designs of the late 80s and early 90s, the new design winks at the champion team of the 1992 Aperturawell remembered title, as it interrupted a long drought in local tournaments.

The shirt is also presented under the motto “Boca I carry you in my soul” and the first official will take place this Friday, at the Bombonera, when the team led by Sebastián Battaglia will face Banfield, at the Bombonera, for the sixth round of the Professional Football League.

No sponsors (for now)

The new Xeneize sacred cloak will be wearing this Friday without a sponsor. The reason? The contract signed with the airline Qatar Airways has ended and Boca will wait for a better offer to agree with its new main sponsor.

After the departure of Qatar Airways there have been offers from other airlines, but none are convinced. The other big proposals concerned the world of betting and cryptocurrencies, two unstable but growing businesses that have invested heavily in Argentine football in the last year and a half.

What’s the problem? Let Boca be clear in its demands: not only does it want to receive money in fixed annual amounts, but it also intends to secure an income when signing the loan. Something that has not happened with any company for now. And for this, with the money compensated by the other companies, Boca intends to wait.

Like River in 2019 and part of 2020, San Lorenzo and Independiente today, and several teams wearing their “clean” jerseys during matches as they sign new deals, the image of Boca with their non-sponsored jersey will accelerate a process that companies They try to secure something logical as soon as possible: with more interested parties, the more the value of being in that privileged place will increase. At least that’s the strategy of President Jorge Ameal, who has been responsible for these decisions since the marketing department changed.

The idea is that by the end of the year the main sponsor will be chosen, even if the Chinese clubs and the one linked to the Argentine national team are favored, which after the World Cup intends to reach Boca to continue with its visibility in the world of sport and especially football.
