Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo has fueled rumors of his possible departure from Manchester United after being absent from training on Monday by new manager Erik Ten Haag, accusing “family reasons”, according to the British club on their website.
Ronaldo, 37, wants to leave Old Trafford because he feels that with the current squad the team will not be able to win either the Premier League or the Champions League, according to local media.
The return of the player to the British club was scheduled for this Monday together with his team-mates who have participated with their national teams in international commitments. The rest of the campus had already returned early last week.
Ronaldo still has a one year contract with United and the club has insisted that the player is not for sale.
Manchester United are close to completing the signing of Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord. A reinforcement that will not reach the competitive claims of the top scorer in the history of world football.
