This Saturday, San Lorenzo beat Boca 2-1 at home and won the classic, as part of the seventh round of the Professional Football League (LPF). The Xeneize ended a terrible week, eliminated by the Libertadores, with the DT sacked, the team in conflict and a defeat in the classic.

The match was hot, with all kinds of pretensions, VAR interventions and revolutions a thousand. Much of this was seen in Boca, especially when he began to understand that the game would end up in the hands of Rubén Insúa’s men.

The anger of the team led for the first time by Hugo Ibarra continued off the pitch. “What the Boca players have done is irresponsible”, complained CASLA president Horacio Arreceygor. The leader reported that the visit destroyed his dressing room and this was reflected in several images that appeared as the minutes passed.

Broken lockers, knocks on doors, murals ripped from the wall, were some of the examples of the actions of the people of Boca on the New Gasometer plants. According to Bajo Flores, the club has filed an appeal before the Professional League seeking compensation.

The match was of the cyclone

Goals for “Ciclón” were scored by Agustín Giay (37 m. PT) and Adam Bareiro (10 m. ST), who also missed a penalty, and Marcos Rojo scored in visiting (27 m. PT).

San Lorenzo, who hadn’t won at home since December 13 last year when they beat Rosario’s Newell’s Old Boys (3-2), have reached 10 points in the league and are dreaming of the Copa Sudamericana 2023.

Boca, on the other hand, continues the series of defeats – three falls in a row – and remains at nine units, far from the top.

San Lorenzo and Boca started a dynamic game in the first few minutes, with Nahuel Barrios as the attacking leader in the home team and with Sebastián Villa and Óscar Romero leading the visit.

The premises were planted with a line of three, which became one of five during the defense to widen the bottom and thus cover the heights of Frank Fabra on the left and Luis Advíncula on the right.

The first clear was at the feet of Adam Bareiro after an indecision between the central duo “xeneize” but the Paraguayan was poorly defined and docilely defined at the hands of Agustín Rossi.

Boca began to dominate when they unlocked the bottom fives line on Fabra’s hand, who did well on offense and hurt when he found spaces behind Nicolás Fernández Mercau’s back.

Rojo’s goal and the controversial celebration

Captain Marcos Rojo scored a Villa free-kick after anticipating Jalil Elías and Sebastián Torrico, who came out at the wrong moment with punches, and opened the game for Hugo Ibarra’s side.

The celebration clarified the location of the campus upon the departure of Carlos Izquierdoz. The former Estudiantes de La Plata went to hug his teammate and removed the ribbon as a sign of respect for the now central reserve.

The joy of “Xeneize” did not last long, it is that Giay attacked from behind Fabra – the Colombian’s biggest miss – and after a rebound he stamped the deserved equalizer in Bajo Flores.

The afternoon added its first controversy when referee Fernando Espinoza, after reviewing a play at the request of the VAR, canceled the second for the club. It is that at the beginning a foul by Siro Rosané on Alan Varela was observed and the referee determined that it was crucial for the development of the advance which ended with the muffled cry of Fernández Mercau’s goal.

The rematch for San Lorenzo, however, came with the header of Bareiro, who took advantage of the assistance of Ezequiel Cerutti, figure of the match, to beat a Rossi behind and a host defense that offered infinite possibilities.

He did not dismiss it as a penalty but he celebrated

The notorious difference is due to the intensity with which the San Lorenzo players faced those of Boca in hand-to-hand duels. It is that the hosts went to every dance as if it were the last, in contrast to certain indifference marked in the visit, especially in the defensive moments.

Boca did not find a way, despite the intentions of Óscar Romero, the only exceptional player in a complicated afternoon that left him the third consecutive defeat in the league and many doubts for the future.

On the other side was San Lorenzo, who lived an afternoon of dream and relief after several bad ones. The celebration of the fans thus proved it.
