Oscar Sanchez, one of the best coaches in the history of basketball in our country, is responsible for a project that has been in business for almost 35 years and through which great figures of Argentine basketball have passed. Egg, Clarín columnist in the latest NBA Finals, has a rich history related to the sport ever since he almost directed 1300 games On a professional level he has been crowned champion on more than one occasion and he was the one who, from the bench, led to the debut of Manu Ginóbili in Andino de La Rioja, in the 1995 edition of the National League.
How did the idea of the campus come about?
In 1988, in one of the many training sessions he has done, he lives with Barcelona. At the time, Aíto García Reneses and Manolo Flores were the coach and assistant of Barcelona. Sanchez appreciated the dynamics and forms of work that were carried out in the Catalan club, and that same year he captured them in our country.
What does the experience consist of?
Since its inception, the campus has had responsibility and teaching as its core values and is aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 19. The experience consists of a week of living together in Mar del Plata, Villa Marista and San Fernando.
Those who can participate they have fun 6 hours a day on the basics of basketball and on individual technical training.
The campus has great professionals who are responsible for nurturing attendees: Jorge Diaz Velez is responsible for the launches; Mariano Sanchez is the skill instructor; Sebastiano Ginobili on offensive foundations; Cesare Bernhardt in psychological support.
In turn, each kid who completes the week on campus receives a football and official campus clothing.
Great figures who attended the campus
Over the years there have been several figures who have made their way through this great project. Many of them have had extraordinary careers, such as: Manu Ginóbili – champion of one on one and free throws in 1988 and 1989 -, Patricio Garino, Juan Pablo and Santiago Vaulet, Florencia Changas, among others. But not only past players, renowned coaches have also wanted to experiment and some examples are: Sergio Hernandez, Bernardo Murphy and Guillermo Narvarte.
