How is the Laver Cup played?
The Laver cup emerged under the impulse of Team 8, a company of which Federer is an active partner, in homage to the Australian myth of Rod Laver and takes place over three days: in this case Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September. Each day there will be three singles and one doubles matches, best of three sets with a ten-point tiebreak in the third.
The matches on Friday will add a point, those on Saturday two and those on Friday three, with which the team that reaches 13 will win. If the series ends in a draw at 12, a double will be played to equalize.
The captains will have to field their six players in singles on Friday and Saturday and, counting the three days, no one will be able to play more than twice in this mode. In turn, at least four members of each group will have to play a double and it will not be possible to repeat a pair, unless the decisive one must be played on Sunday.
