The third largest jackpot in US Mega Millions lottery history is up for grabs this Friday.

The Americans have been rushing to win for three months. The Mega Millions prize pool is back in play this Friday in the United States and now shows no less than 660 million dollars on the counter. A sum well above the historic jackpot won this week in Euromillions, specifically 240 million euros.

In total there are 27 consecutive draws that have not given anything since April and that result in this amount.

A word of clarification though: the $660 million up for grabs can only be cashed out in full if the winner agrees to receive it as an annuity over 30 years. Assuming he’d rather keep it all now, he’d get “only” $376.9 million back.

No limit unlike EuroMillions

This is the third largest jackpot generated by this lottery (ninth largest jackpot in the country of all lotteries combined) which itself does not set any rules as to its ceiling.

Thus, in 2018, a resident of South Carolina pocketed no less than 1,600 million dollars, almost seven times more than the record won this week in Euromillions.
