the Nigerian Tobi Amusan this Sunday set a new world record for the 100m hurdles in the semifinals of the Eugene 2022 World Athletics Championships, with a time of 12s12.
Amusan, 25, achieved the feat by competing against the previous record holder, American Kendra Harrison, who had scored 12s20 in 2016. Both hurdlers will meet again in the final this Sunday, at 11pm in Argentina, at the Hayward Field of Eugene (Oregon, United States).
“God did it! It’s a strong feeling. I did what I had to do. I can’t wait for the final,” shouted the Nigerian, stunned by her record, as she walked away from the pitch.

The first record was broken on Friday by the American Sydney McLaughlin in the 400 hurdles final (50s68).
For her part, Kendra Harrison, who is chasing her first world title, finished second in the semifinals with a time of 12.27 while Jamaican Danielle Williams was third with 12.41.
