Not all podiums are the same. It is assumed that the three are privileged to seize the steps of pleasure and are therefore overflowing with happiness. But, of course, not all motorsport festival ceremonies are the same. And as proof, it is enough to listen and see the main characters of TC2000 in Bahía Blanca, where Agustín Canapino, without cracks and with a destructive rhythm, took victory on the second date of the championship.

“I don’t want to win in these conditions. Let’s see how we perform when we weigh. No need to speculate here about the championship system. But you know what I think about the kilogram penalty system. It is not good to win with a light car when there are many rivals ”, commented the Chevrolet driver, who got his first final win of the year while defending No. 1 achieved in 2021.

On Saturday, the Chevrolet driver won the Sprint. Canapino yield ranges from lowest to highestwith some complications with his Chevrolet’s occasional sensor due to humidity and the complex climatic conditions in which he started over the weekend in the city of Buenos Aires, but it was adopted in that race and, obviously, in the end.

The current champion mentioned the ballast system that, to this date, for example, complex Leonel Pernía (Renault), weighing 60 kilograms, or Julián Santero (Toyota), weighing 50, which despite this was able to get there and add beautiful points, but they were clearly not there to fight for the vanguard.

As such, Pernía’s pole position on Saturday, or Santero’s third place at the end of Sunday, is highly commendable.

But it is not only necessary to listen to the protagonists, such as the position of the champion in the ballast, to punish the best position in the championship. Here too arose a dilemma as old as motorsport itself: team orders.

Canapino stood out initially from sixth place and from there he had the wisdom, and the gain of kilos, to rise to victory. But he specifically explained the situation with his teammate Bernardo Llaver, who did a brilliant job with 30 kilos, with a mark of deterioration, especially in the fight with his co-provincial Santero (Toyota), also from Mendoza.

“We made an amazing 1-2. We went from less to more. Taking care of everything and waiting for opportunities. He was running very well, better than Berni. The team said there was no need. of the internal fight, Berni gave me and I advanced first ”, canapino pointed out with great sincerity.

On the podium, Llaver was right in politics: “It’s a good career. I did the wear, I risked a lot and I achieved second place. They were risky maneuvers”, just commented the side of Canapino, who added: “It makes I am very happy for the team. He did a great job, he deserves this great result, it is not easy to do 1-2 in TC2000 ”.

However, the non-verbal communication did not match what he expressed. The gestures showed the opposite. Obviously everything is interpretation, but Llaver is used to this kind of situation that weakens him. Regardless of the performance of each car.

Almost unintentionally, Santero came to this topic. Of course, the guy from Mendoza also suffered the squire of Matías Rossi, when he was the great representative of Toyota Gazoo Racing within the now TC2000.

“There are great maneuvers with Llaver, he is a first class pilot. Unfortunately he receives many equipment orders throughout the year. Hopefully he will be valued in his performances”, without hesitation. us by Santero.

What’s more, the Toyota Corolla driver featured the competition: ““ The race is beautiful. Beautiful maneuvers are given at the end of the race. We will be heavier because we will continue first. At 50 kilos, the fight for the lead is very good ”. And he added: “I really appreciate the conditions in which we are fighting.”

In the final estimate, the race is from high to low. There was a lot of friction and fighting ahead, in the aforementioned overtaking, but then the competition was flattened, with no emotion in the end.

In the controversies, Jorge Barrio was recharged. The young Toyota driver grabbed Pernía (despite the kilos he added and proceeded to fourth place) to overtake. There was also a feud between Facundo Ardusso (Honda) and Franco Vivian (Citroën), which led to the latter’s abandonment, although Santa Fe eventually also left due to an oversight.

The TC2000 passed through Bahía Blanca, a place he hadn’t visited since 2007, when he also won a championship and was with Chevrolet, albeit with Rossi’s help. During that time, a young Agustín Canapino had his first experiences in motorsports and won the promotional Mégane Cup, under the supervision of his father, Alberto.

This time, Agustín looked up at the sky, he dedicated to it his 27th victory in the TC2000, as usual, he went to the nose of his Chevrolet and patted the nose where Alberto’s signature was written, as eternal gratitude. Stable, as when the 2021 season ended, Canapino won and he knew he was also a candidate for this year. Although “you have to keep your feet on the ground, there is still a long way to go”, as he commented after the Bahian podium.

Bessone and Pernía, well -known surnames

In the TC2000 Series, a category before TC2000, the young Figo Bessone, son of the great champion Ernesto “Tito” Bessone, won. The 18-year-old boy prevailed from end to end in the discipline, on a complex track, as it was wet and dirty, a product of the bad weather that prevailed most of the weekend.

His father’s emotions could not be hidden. In an endless hug, young Bessone celebrated his first victory in the category with Tito. He was accompanied by Lucas Bohdanowicz from Chaco and Scuncio Moro.

Meanwhile, in the main category, the TC2000, debuted Mariano Pernía, Leonel’s brother. Former soccer player, he came to represent Spain at the World Cup in Germany in 2006, he competed in several national categories, but he even appeared in the TC2000 with a Fiat Cronos of the FSS team.

With patience, in a private structure, Mariano was able to move forward. He started in 15th position and finished in 7th place. The Pernas had a successful family weekend, as Leonel’s pole position and Mariano’s debut were followed by the success of Tiago, Leonel’s son, in the National Formula, and the visit of Vicente “Tano” Pernía, former soccer player for Boca, among others, and former pilot for TC and TN.
