Vélez Sarsfield will receive the Talleres de Córdoba today in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores de América.

The match will be played starting at 9:30 pm at the José Amalfitani stadium, in the Buenos Aires district of Liniers, with the arbitration of the Colombian Wilmar Roldán and broadcast by Fox Sports.

The rematch will be next Wednesday 10 at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium in Córdoba, with the audience of both teams, and the winner will face Flamengo or Corinthians, both Brazilians in the semifinal.

In the first leg between the Brazilian teams, played last night in Sao Paulo, Flamengo prevailed 2-0 with goals from Uruguayan Giorgian De Arrascaeta and Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa.

In a very balanced series, Vélez made his debut as a historic favorite because he was able to win the Cup in 1994 and because he left River Plate on the street in a definition that ended with controversy over what happened in the rematch at the Monumental stadium with the goal canceled by Matías Suárez VAR through.

Talleres, meanwhile, is experiencing a historic moment as after 20 years of absence from the most important tournament in South America, he entered the top eight for the first time.

The “T”, which had its biggest international success in 1999 with the victory of the extinct Conmebol Cup, knocked out Colón de Santa Fe in the round of 16 after a 1-1 draw in Córdoba and a 2-0 win at “Elephant cemetery”.
