The Argentine Sebastian Baez crashed this Wednesday afternoon against the American Sebastian Korda 6-1 and 6-4 in the return match of the ATP 500 in Washington, on concrete, a surface where he had not seen for four months.

The 21-year-old from San Martín, city of Buenos Aires, currently in 31st place in the ATP world rankings, entered the tournament directly in the second round.

In an hour and 10 minutes of play, the American imposed his style and emerged victorious as a broad ruler. Among other differences, Korda took advantage of his serve, hitting 4 aces on 1 and the same, but reverse, figures in double fouls. Furthermore, I beat Báez both in percentage of first serve (73-67%) and in points (66-56%) of first and second (86-69%).

Korda, who had just beaten Belarusian Ilya Ivashka in the first round, looked intractable and overwhelmed the Argentine. He prevailed with authority to get the passage to the round of 16.

For its part, Báez accumulates four consecutive falls. He also lost at the Hamburg premiere to the Serbian Filip Krajinovic and in the Umag tournament against the Italian naturalized Argentine Franco Agamemnon.

This event is part of the fast-paced surface tour before the US Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year, which will take place August 29 in New York.

The American has beaten Báez in both games in history, because he had already beaten him last year in the group stage of the Next Gen ATP Finals, in Milan.

However, the Argentine’s season is not bad. And this won his first title on the circuit when he raised the trophy in Estoril, Portugal, and also reached two other finals in Santiago de Chile, where he lost to Spaniard Pedro Martínez, and in Bastad, Sweden, overtaken by Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo.

the Russian Andrea Rublev He is the favorite for Washington’s current ATP 500, which distributes more than $ 2 million in prizes. A juicy number.

The Argentines who raised the trophy in Washington are Guillermo Vilas (1975, 1977 and 1979), José Luis Clerc (1981 and 1983), Juan Martín Del Potro (2008, 2009 and 2013) and David Nalbandian (2010).
