The declared war between Neymar and Kylian Mbappé triggers alarms. After the mistaken penalty by the Frenchman and the one made by the Brazilian in the 5-2 victory against Montpellier on Saturday, the social networks echoed a possible confrontation that already worries the leaders of the most powerful club in France.

Over the weekend, for the second date of Ligue 1, Mbappé missed the first penalty of the match but still transformed the team’s fourth goal, but he didn’t celebrate. The question, then, remained in the air: was the annoyance at his mistake still lasting or was there something else?

At the Parc des Princes, the French striker criticized Vitinha for not giving him a pass e argued with the Brazilian crack to see who took the second penalty of the match, which was eventually hit (and hit) by Neymar.

The problem continued in social networkswhere the maximum tension between the two was discovered when several Twitter users criticized PSG’s decision to make Mbappé the “owner” of the club, comments that the Brazilian “liked”.

As published on Monday by the sports newspaper L’Equipethis controversy has reached the Parisian sports management, which, like the coach of the team, The crack dispute didn’t do him any favors.

Consequently, Luís Campos, Leonardo’s successor and new PSG manager, and Christophe Galtier, Mauricio Pochettino’s successor as DT, they are planning a meeting this week to talk to the players. There they will try to calm the waters and invite the players to work together for the good of the team.

The problem, Mbappé’s new contract

In 2017, when PSG paid off 222 million euros in Barcelona Neymar became the most expensive footballer in the world. However, this year it was Mbappé who signed a contract that made him the cornerstone of a team that has had the best footballer on the planet, Messi, since last year.

As is known, when the Frenchman put his signature in May and ruled out the interesting proposal from Real Madrid, he did it to be “the corner piece of the project and in the gear from which others have to work” at PSG.

Neymar, of course, would not agree with this, nor Messi, who in all his teams opted to be one of the group (and it did not go badly).

Even, without Mbappé on the first date against Clermont, both Messi and Neymar shared the spotlight and understood each other perfectly to lead the team to victory. In the second game, already with Mbappé on the pitch, Neymar was once again the protagonist and made a better match than his teammate.

Furthermore, the environment of the Brazilian star would be unhappy with the club for giving more importance to Mbappé in the team, including the issue of taking charge of penalties in the team.

“The order of choosing the kicker has been set for this game. Kylian kicked the first one and it made sense that Neymar would do it later. We will see it in the future, “Galtier warned after the victory.

In this sense, it seems logical that the chosen one was the one who was proclaimed best player in the French league, being his top scorer (28 goals)and ended up renewing his contract with the champions.

Last season, meanwhile, Neymar turned three of four of his 13 goals during another season in which he missed several games due to injury. While Messi has been criticized for being more present in the Argentine national team – where he won his first title during the Copa América – than in the club.

While any team would like to have Paris Saint Germain’s dream attack (Messi, Neymar – captains of the Argentine and Brazilian teams respectively – and Mbappé), egos and divisions could have that trident destroyed at the end of the season.
