Almost a week before the game between Students Y Atletico Paranaense who decided the last semifinalist of the Libertadores Cup, repercussions continue to be generated. The heartbreaking victory of the Brazilians did not escape controversy, and the main target of the fans – and the leaders – was the referee Andrés Matone.
The Uruguayan canceled a goal from Luciano Lollo, and avoided a hand from Vitor Roque in the defining goal and, therefore, the fans exploded. Another who made himself heard, albeit with a bit more direct contact with the referee, was Juan Sebastian Veronstudent vice president. The ‘Brujita’ crossed paths with Matone, and the controversy exploded.

The first version concerned a report by journalist Pablo Carrozza, who claimed that after the match Verón had moved to the locker room area, where he had acted at a crossroads with the list of referees. “He attacked the referees at the doping gate. He threatened them, insulted them and had to be turned away by several police officers”has indicated.
Later, an Instagram post by Verón himself in which he pointed out against the organization, added another chapter to the controversy. “Conmebol does what Conmebol does,” Verón wrote, accompanying his message with a Brazilian flag.

Now, Some audios have leaked confirming the reporter’s version. The person responsible for their diffusion was Carrozza himself, who left the audio on his Instagram, but not before writing on his Twitter account: “I have the audio of Verón attacking the referees of the match with Paranaense in the locker room area. For all the Giles who did not believe me. Conmebol is already aware and evaluates a serious penalty“.
And in these audio snippets, which barely last a few seconds, several people can be heard scolding the referee after the eventful end of the game. Among many voices, one stands out: that of Juan Sebastián Verón. Insults, threats and serious accusations of the ‘Brujita’which may now be suspended.
“Button, you are shit, and you know you are shit. Come and rob us in the face, look, I know you. Twenty years I played football, twenty years vigilante “expressed the current vice president of the La Plata club, accompanied by several other close friends of Students who would also have been part of the relationship.
“Guardian, he’ll come back to you. You’ll see, shit. He’ll come back to you. For the lining, for the cock, for the guardian.”, closed Verón at the end of the audio, and before being removed from the locker room area by security officers. Now we will have to wait for the Conmebol report. Carrozza even dared to speak of “right of admission.”

Controversy with VAR audios
The anger of the ‘Brujita’ has to do with a more than controversial arbitration, which generated even more controversy when it came to making known the audio of the VAR. What could have been 1-0 for Pincha and qualifying for the semifinals ended up being an advanced and indirect position for Paranaense. What happened?
In the video of just over four minutes, which was released first this Friday, it is clearly seen that the judge Andrés Matonte was the one who decided not to collect the goal of ‘Pincha’, maintaining its initial sentence. Cunha called him to review the game, but the referee replied: “I will keep the offside decision”.

The referee reviewed the game over and over but never came to agree with his assistant’s criteria from the booth. And it is that Cunha, at first, thought: “The player is in front of the goalkeeper’s view, I think he doesn’t cover him for defensive action, but the ball passes behind … The ball passes between the player and the goalkeeper, but it doesn’t prevent him from making the move”.
“I see, the attacker, number 5, makes a move, is close to the goalkeeper and that’s where the ball passes”, justified the referee, who thus gave Atletico Paranaense another life. And the Brazilians took advantage of this ‘extra’ life, and were left with the pass to the semi-finals with a heartbreaking goal, which has not escaped controversy.

‘Pincha’ men claimed a hand early in the game, but the one the VAR reviewed was that of Vitor Roque, who scored the goal. The Uruguayan referee team confirmed the goal, but then the controversy on social media exploded. There is more than one photo that generates controversy, and which shows how the young man has apparently defined himself with his arm. From there comes the anger of the ‘Brujita’.
