Independent does not live quiet days. some time ago. Confirmation of the October 2 election date provided at least great certainty amid so much uncertainty and concern. But the problems are not solved and reappear one after the other as in a desperate loop. In addition to the sporting ills (the team has not yet won with Julio Falcioni and has accumulated one defeat and four draws in a row) there are the economic ones, which are much deeper.

This Tuesday a new inhibition was announced by FIFA for non-compliance with the debt agreement with Gastón Silva which amounts to 1,300,000 dollars (one installment of 500 thousand and two of 400 thousand). But the same thing will happen in the coming weeks with Mexico’s America’s claim for Cecilio Domínguez’s unpaid pass. In this case, the amount owed is US $ 5,700,000. In other words, in order to incorporate actors from both the local and foreign spheres, the Avellaneda entity will have to raise debts for a total of 7 million dollars.

The downside is that if the current leadership does not resolve these issues in a timely manner, the bomb will explode on the next Board of Directors, which assumes after having prevailed at the polls. Is that whatever happens, it’s a fact that Independiente will have a new president since Hugo Moyano warned last month that he won’t go for a third term, and his right hand will go with him, Hector Maldonado (general secretary of the club).

On 12 September the lists must be confirmed before the Electoral College. The ruling party has not yet decided who will represent it. It is the great unknown of these elections. This Wednesday, the Independent Association (official) will hold a new internal meeting to try and agree on a name. Whoever it is, you already know that you will have to deal with a heavy inheritance.

Fabiano Doman Y Claudio Rudecindo they know it too. “WE ASK the current management of @Independiente not to leave the club with debts, inhibitions and lawsuits everywhere before leaving. That they URGENTLY ASSUME the payment agreement with Gaston Silva that they violated this month.”Doman wrote on his Twitter account.

And he added in reference to the statements released last week by Pablo Moyano: “Exactly 7 days ago, the club’s vice president, Pablo Moyano, said we would win the lawsuits we have in FIFA. The opposite has happened. Data kills history.”

The ruling party has insisted in recent days that the members remember what Independiente was like when the Moyano took over. With a video uploaded to their group’s social networks, the management accounted for the improvement of the properties and the two titles achieved in this management, the 2017 South American Cup and the 2018 Suruga Bank.

all this is a great truth. What is not counted is that the problems started in the second term, from 2018 onwards, when an internal leadership breakdown occurred and decisions began to close between Moyano father and son and Maldonado. The contracts were made with very high foreign exchange contracts and the directors’ attention was divided by their political issues at the national level.

The dollar debt grew and inflation and the crisis due to the pandemic deepened everything to the point that there was a flight of footballers who legally intimidated and declared themselves free to act (Silva, Martín Campaña, Fernándo Gaibor). Others have decided to terminate their bond in exchange for negotiating the debt. And others were sold at a very low price, as in the case of Cecilio Domínguez.

There was a shower of inhibitions: six were born at the same time. They got up, paying in some cases, and in others renegotiating a payment plan. The latter took place with the Uruguayan Silva, but they did not respect the first installment and the agreement fell through. The same thing happens with Mexico’s America.

According to a report published by the partisan site From the cradle to hell, the current leadership of Independiente accumulates a total debt of almost 19 million dollars. And the credit has almost 4 million.

The one chosen by the partners on 2 October will have to deal with this situation and will have to seek solutions to accommodate an economy in the red.
