Argentina Davis Cup captain Guillermo Coria has nominated Francisco Cerúndolo and Sebastián Báez today for the singles matches against Italy, meaning Diego Schwartzman will not play the Group A match that will take place in the city of Bologna for the Finals 2022.

In this context, the series between Argentina and Italy will begin at 10 with the match between Báez, 37th in the ATP world ranking, and Berrettini (15), which will be broadcast by TyC Sports.

Subsequently, Cerúndolo (27), who will make his absolute debut, will meet Sinner (11), and then the series at the Unipol Arena stadium, with a capacity of 20,000 people, will end with the double point between the Argentines Horacio Zeballos and Máximo González against the Italians Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli.

Argentina began their participation in Group A with a 2-1 defeat to Sweden on Tuesday, while Italy beat Croatia 3-0.

On the second round, Croatia beat Sweden 2-1 and this gave Argentina back the hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals to be played in Malaga from 23 to 27 November, as two teams will advance from each zone.

So Argentina could move on to the quarter-finals if they win the two remaining games, against Italy and tomorrow against Croatia, or they could also reach it with another combination of results even losing against Tanos.

If Italy wins its three games as estimated, Argentina can beat Croatia and there the number of sets won and lost would define the ranking.

The Davis 2022 Finals take place in four venues, the others being Valencia, Hamburg and Glasgow.

In Valencia, Spain, South Korea, Serbia and Canada compete in Group B; in Hamburg, Group C is made up of Germany, France, Australia and Belgium; while in Glasgow in Group D there are Great Britain, the United States, Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.
