Pope Francis, Queen Won’t attend Elizabeth’s funeral

The Vatican announced on Friday that Pope Francis has sent a message to Queen Elizabeth II. He said he would not attend Elizabeth’s funeral next Monday at Westminster Abbey.

“Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, will represent Pope Francis at the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday,” Pope spokesman Matteo Bruni said.

British-born Monsignor Gallagher is a sort of Vatican Foreign Minister and a member of its diplomatic service since 1984.
