American Tiger Woods, who officially reappeared at the recent Masters in Augusta, has signed up to play the United States Golf Open, the organization reported on social media.

Woods, a three -time tournament champion, has formalized his registration before the deadline -on Wednesday-. The third grand slam of 2022 It will be held between June 16 and 19 at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, where the former world number one competed with the U.S. team that won the 1999 Ryder Cup.

This formalism, however, leaves only the option that he can compete: it does not guarantee that he will play but it will allow him to do so if he decides to.

The Tiger returned to action last week for the Masters, the first ‘major’ of the season, and made it 301 shots, 13 over par with Augusta National. That was the big draw besides Scottie Scheffler’s win. He started with a good start on Thursday (71, -1), making the cut and ended up blaming the effort. He has been out of competition since February 2021, as a result of a very serious traffic accident in which he nearly lost a leg.

On the same Sunday he announced his intention to play in the fourth ‘major’ of the season, the British Open, which will be played at Saint Andrews ’Scottish field between June 14 and 17.
