The high-end king are those mobile phone incorporating the latest glimpses of a market where glitz shines, an abundance of resources and also innovative solutions. Next, which models have won the premium segment race and that they are still available in Argentina.

One of the privileges granted by this category is the mandatory originality for all its configuration lines. Over time, these unique benefits tend to dwindle to junior models.

Following the trend of recent years, the main advances in the mobile phone sector aim to improve the speed of the processor, the resolution of the screen or the resistance of the glass, with some tweaks in the camera module.

The most powerful smartphones respond to Motorola, Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi. The four coordinates that determine its orientation are: maximum power, super screens, powerful cameras and fast charging.

  • Processor: Its performance affects phone speed, game quality, user experience and battery efficiency. The most powerful is Apple’s A16 Bionic and, according to benchmarks, it is followed by MediaTek’s Dimension 9000 Plus and then Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1.
  • Frequency: while in the intermediate ranges 90 Hz prevails, in the more advanced ones, the minimum is that it offers 120 Hz, with an AMOLED screen that integrates the fingerprint reader in the glass.
  • cameras: among the variety of lenses, the wide angle to capture a greater viewing angle, the telephoto to have a better optical zoom, the depth sensor to improve photos with background blur and the macro to photograph close objects cannot be missing.
  • Battery: to supply so much power, mobile phones need an autonomy that can be extended by at least 12 hours. The basis is a 4,500mAh battery with fast charging of 66W or more and which also features wireless charging.

Moto Edge 30 Ultra

It was ahead of all phones as the requirement for 2023 is 200MP, as it was 108MP resolution until recently. Motorola was the first to roll out this feature, with the added bonus that it’s also available in the country.

For the most part, these mobiles are equipped with pixel binning technology, which allows the sensors to capture more light, resulting in sharper photos and less noise, in low light conditions.

But when you take a photo in automatic mode it doesn’t use all the pixels. Instead, it uses “binning technology,” in which four dots are combined to form a larger pixel that attracts more light and produces better images.

The main benefit of adding so many dots in an image is to improve sensitivity when the environment is dim and add more detail to the image. All this, without losing quality.

The main camera is supported by a 50MP wide-angle camera with an aperture of 112 degrees, with a 12MP macro and telephoto option, with 2x optical zoom. The front is 60 megapixels.

Another noteworthy detail is that it incorporates a fast charge (delivered with TurboPower) of 125 watts. Which implies that its 4610mAh battery hits 50% in 9 minutes. It also has 50 watt wireless charging.

To ratify its ambition among the advanced series, it is capped with a 6.67-inch OLED screen, with a refresh rate of 144Hz and a fingerprint sensor hidden behind the screen.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

One of the big surprises is that the South Korean company, instead of the classic Exynos – the factory chip – has opted for Qualcomm 8 Gen 1, at least in Argentina, the successor to the Snapdragon 888 and member of a series that completely renews the architecture.

Among the main innovations, the best known is the merger with the extinct Galaxy Note series. Now, in the bottom hole of the equipment, the S Pen is hidden, which results in a wider frame for storing this optical device and a more angular design.

Its 6.8-inch screen, equipped with Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology at 120 Hz, with a generous resolution of 3,080 by 1,440 pixels, reaches a maximum brightness of 1,750 nits, which allows you to read a message in broad daylight without the need for shade .

In terms of autonomy, the battery brand reaches 5,000 mAh, supports 45W wired fast charging via the USB Type-C connector and 15W wirelessly. The wall charger is not included in the package and is sold separately.

iPhone 14 Pro Max

Apple’s technical difference with previous equipment is very close. iPhone is back with the 14 Pro Max as a photographic benchmark. In low light conditions it has made a big leap compared to the previous generation of mobiles.

Its main sensor is 48 megapixels. Until now the maximum was 12 megapixels. For normal photos, what the system does is group pixels by four – the count is 48 divided by 4, which gives 12 – for brighter photos.

The company assures that they are now able to collect three times as much light in dimly lit spaces. The aperture of the main camera has been significantly reduced, so Apple must be pretty sure that its camera is now brighter.

The new sensor has made it possible to have four focal lengths although the mobile has only three lenses. For the 2X “optical” zoom, it uses the information coming from the central part of the 48 megapixel sensor, interpolating and merging them to obtain a lower resolution photograph, but with greater detail.

The computing capacity of the Pro Max, with its A16 Bionic SoC, is a couple of steps ahead of its opponents, given that only in 2023, with the new Snapdragon and MediaTek chips, will they be able to reduce part of the advantage.

According to benchmarks evaluating a single core, Apple’s ARM architecture achieves 40% more performance, is 15% faster and consumes 20% less power than a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and MediaTek Dimensity 9000+.

The brand new SoC, according to Apple, focuses on three areas: energy efficiency, screen and camera. It has 16,000 million transistors, 1,000 more than the Apple A15 offers.

Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G

Despite being a step below the previous ones, it has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution (2,400 by 1,800).

For smoother movement, smoother animations, and lag-free transitions, it relies on a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a touch sampling rate of up to 360Hz.

Brightness is another high point, hitting 1,200 nits, which means you won’t need to worry when the sun hits head-on. The panel is well calibrated at the factory, its default color scheme provides optimal contrast.

The rear camera module is eye-catching and consists of a 108MP main sensor with a wide-angle lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 118-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro camera. The design is completed by a 16 MP front camera.

The main camera uses 9-in-1 pixel binning technology and dual ISO to deliver images with greater dynamic range and color performance.

As for its engine, it is powered by a 2.5GHz MediaTek Dimensity 920. A chipset that offers 5G connectivity and also runs on an energy-efficient 6nm process, which improves battery life.

The equipment has a 4500 mAh battery that can be charged at 120 watts (allowing a full charge in 15 minutes), but in Argentina it will, for now, be sold with a 67 watt charger.
