Penalties and a heroic save against Kolo Muani cemented Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez as one of the stars of World Champion Argentina in Qatar. Now, that same status will materialize in space thanks to the Mar del Plata company Innova Space, which announced this Friday that one of the two picosatellites which will be put into orbit in the next few days will bear the name of the archer.
The satellite, which measures 10 by 10 centimeters and weighs almost half a kilo, will be launched from Cape Canaveral, in the United States, via the Space X company’s Falcon IX spacecraft. belonging to Elon Musk.
As explained by the CEO of Innova Space, Alejandro Cordero, they have decided to rename the picosatellite which was initially called Simón Bolívar, and name it after the world champion goalkeeper of Mar del Plata, and leave the name of the Libertador for the next development.
“This event showed everyone that nothing is impossible. The dream has become a reality created by Innova Space. Now, another from Mar del Plata like our students is today a new example that everything is possible if we really put our passion and work into it. “Dibu” and the entire national team brought us to Argentina the most coveted Cup after 36 years, also achieved thanks to constancy, never giving up”, emphasized the businessman and teacher.
How is Dibu Martínez, the new Argentine satellite
The word picosatellite refers to a small satellite. The prefix “pico” comes from the Italian word “piccolo” or small. Picosatellites typically weigh less than two pounds and are built with the goal of reducing construction and launch costs.
“We feel a lot of empathy with Dibu, as an Argentinian and from Mar del Plata, and the idea of naming our satellite after him has to do with the humble origins we share with him as a company, and having achieved a place that was very difficult to reach, without forgetting where it came from“, he indicated.
The technical name of the picosatellite is “MDQube SAT-1 B”, and in this new launch it will be put into orbit together with “MDQube SAT-1 A”, baptized Juana Azurduy, in homage to the figure of the fight against the royalist troops in the High Peru.
Cordero specified that after a series of postponements, it is expected that in the first days of January the satellites will be transported into space from the Kennedy Space Center, in the US state of Florida, and a week after the launch they will reach their position, 500 kilometers from earth.
Although both are morphologically distinct from the “MDQube SAT-1 – General San Martin” , the first satellite built by the company and launched on January 13, its functions will be similar.
“This type of satellite provides Internet communications for devices in industries such as mining, agriculture and livestock, in rural or remote areas where there is no connectivity,” explained the company’s CEO .
The announcement of the new name for the brand new satellite was anticipated through the networks by Cordero, together with Luca Uriarte and Iván Mellina, two young students who are part of Innova Space.
“I drewWe appreciate all your successes and what you have done for Mar del Plata. This got us to the top of the world and so let’s say they rebranded the next version,” the businessman and teacher said in his message.
“We posted it on our networks and within five minutes my phone exploded, so we are very happy with the repercussion and the decision made, which many people are celebrating,” he told Télam.
Although he warned that “international records should be carefully examined”, he assured that “possibly the first satellite in orbit with the name of a footballer”.
