the adventure of Elon Musk at the command of Chirping added a new chapter this week. To the radical changes he has implemented in the company in recent times, one has been added which concerns the traditional poster from the headquarters of San FranciscoCalifornia.
The latest occurrence of the CEO of Space X and Tesla was replace the word “Twitter” with “Titter” after erasing the letter “w” with white paint so that it blends into the background.
Because the company can’t legally remove any portion of the banner to change the “Twitter” name it displays to the public, Musk warned, his “solution to the problem” he had to paint the letter “w” the same white color as the background; so the company name is still displayed without too much alteration.
What’s behind the latest occurrence of Elon Musk
The surprising disappearance of the letter ‘w’ contains a particular motif of the eccentric tycoon: a direct message to the owner of the building, who has not hidden his discontent since it is a legal obligation of the company to display your name.
The dispute over the Twitter sign is not new and neither would the bad relations between the owner of the building and Elon Musk, because at the end of January 2023 the owner of the property sued the company for an amount that arrives nearly 8 million dollars.
The reason, according to the owner, would be that Twitter has not paid the agreed amount of rent for December 2022 and January 2023that would be $3.4 million a month.
The real estate company has already been required to use bank loans to help cover some of its January debt, but the company still owes $3.2 million.
On the other hand, the fact not only motivated several users of the platform to express their disapproval of the change, but also to criticize Musk.
Musk’s announcement of the change also included a short message replying to the owner of the building: “They tried to silence our giggle (the translation of titter into Spanish),” reads the official report from the company’s CEO. Although many interpret that it is also a reference to the female breast.
More lawsuits against Twitter
Three former executives who have been fired of the social network on Monday filed a lawsuit against the company seeking reimbursement of the costs of litigation, inquiries and congressional inquiries related to their previous work.
Former CEO Parag Agrawalalong with the company’s former legal and finance directors, they argue that the company owes them a total of more than $1 million and that Twitter is legally obligated to pay it, according to the lawsuit filed in a specialized court in Delaware and published by The New York Times.
Twitter responded to an AFP request for comment with a poop emoticon, making it its usual autoresponder.
The complaint lists legal costs related to lawsuits, but also to investigations by the SEC (US security authority) and the Department of Justice. It does not specify the nature of the Justice Department investigation and whether it is still ongoing.
Agrawal and the then CFO, Ned Segalhe testified before the SEC last year and “continued to interact with federal authorities,” according to court documents.
The SEC is investigating whether tycoon Elon Musk played by stock market rules when he stockpiled Twitter shares.
The former legal director of Twitter, Vijaya Gaddewas called to attend a US congressional hearing on society and freedom of expression, after Musk made public documents related to content moderation on the site.
Gadde was also named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by a man who claimed his personal information was posted on Twitter as a white supremacist.
The three former executives were fired by Musk on October 27, 2022, when the owner of Tesla and SpaceX bought the social network for $44 billion.
The plaintiffs say they have asked Twitter to reimburse their expenses, but that the company has so far only received their bills.
