In the look set for the future, Meta Platforms plan to launch somehow four new virtual reality (VR) headset models before 2024, according to American media The Information, which agreed on the roadmap set by Mark Zuckerberg to take over the metaverse.

One of the most ambitious is Cambria Projectwhich was advanced in 2021 Facebook Connect, the conference at which Zuckerberg announced that the company had been renamed Meta.

This is a new high-end VR headset Meta may take this year. It will run on its own embedded processor like the Quest series and will use Meta’s proprietary VR operating system, which is Android-based.

Engineers at Meta Reality Labs allegedly described the device as a “a computer for the head” or a Chromebook for the face.

Cambria is expected to be compatible with online tools, as well as with some Quest applications. It will also include high -resolution image quality, to reinforce its promise professional use of the device.

Mixed reality, which combines virtual and augmented reality to create spaces in which both real and virtual objects and people can interact, is also present in Cambria. To do this, the helmet will be included exterior -facing cameras.

The document states that the Cambria will enjoy more autonomy than the Oculus Quest 2 by having a larger battery that, for balance reasons, will be included in the back of the device.

As Meta announced in October 2021, Cambria will allow replay with avatars eye contact and expressions in real time thanks to the sensors it combines.

What is clear is that Cambria does not intend to replace the Quest series, although hopefully, in the near future, all the technology it offers in this revolutionary VR headset will offer a more affordable version of the Oculus.

Meta planned to showcase Project Cambria in 2021. But supply chain problems caused by the pandemic have postponed launch until next September 2022, according to both sources.

The starting price of Cambria will be $ 799a figure higher than the $ 380 currently worth the company’s Quest 2.

The other three VR headsets they will go on the market before 2024when Mark Zuckerberg’s company expects the metaverse to begin to expand.

The second version, codenamed Funston, will be released in 2024. Additionally, the leaked roadmap suggests Meta plans to release two new Oculus headsets in 2023 and 2024.

There is another project underway. These are augmented reality (AR) glasses known as Nazare that will also come in 2024 along with connected glasses with the codename Hypernova.

Along with these models, a bracelet with electromyographic technology seems to do that, apparently, will allow you to control certain glasses options with your thoughts. This bracelet will work in conjunction with our smartphone, but it’s not yet clear how far these features will go.
