TikTok wants to make it easier to give credit to content creators

The short-video social network TikTok has added a feature aimed at giving more recognition to content creators who have inspired others in the community and started viral trends.

We can now identify (or tag) other people’s accounts or specific videos in our videos to give them credit for an idea or a song, for example, that inspired the video.

The social network, owned by Chinese group ByteDance, says it wants to encourage a culture of recognition on its platform, can we read in a blog post.

This announcement seems to be a reaction of the social network to critics who have accused it of turning a blind eye to plagiarism and the provision of content on its platform.

A strike movement of black creators and creators came out last year on the social network on this topic. In particular, we cited the example of many viral dances created by members of the black community, where we rarely take the trouble to associate credit, and therefore recognition – and popularity, a major issue for anyone who wants to have of careers on social networks – which can result from it.
