IOS mobile app developers have until June 30 to make it easier for users who want to delete their account or personal data stored in an app.
It is not enough to simply provide the ability to temporarily disable or disable an account. Individuals should be able to easily delete the account along with their personal datacan we read a note to the developers on Apple’s site (New window).
Internet users will then find options to delete their account or even their personal data from an application without looking too much.
” Deleting an account removes it from the developer’s records, along with any account-related data that the developer is not legally required to keep. “
By providing this possibility, users will have more control over the personal data they sharewe added.
Some postponements
This rule was first announced in 2021 during Apple’s WWDC developer conference, but its implementation has been postponed several times by the giant.
The Facebook group (now Meta) initially challenged it in the public plaza, noting that data collection for advertising targeting purposes is very useful, especially for small businesses, which weaker, especially during a pandemic.
Apple also wants to avoid attracting too much attention as the company is in the midst of a hearing in the U.S. Congress on allegations of abuse in the dominant position, according to what The Verge.
Now that the hearings have passed, the apple company is judging that the developers have had enough time to adapt to its new rules. All indications are that the last day of June 30 will not be postponed again.
Apple will hold the next WWDC developer conference from June 6-10, 2022.
