Instagram announced that it is testing a new feed where photos and videos fill the entire screen, like TikTok, one of its competitors in the market.
This isn’t the first time Instagram has tried to edit its feed. Last May, the social network tested a full-screen format that, however, still shows two white bars at the ends of the screen.
This novelty has also been criticized by users of the application, especially due to the processing of images, which have lost quality or are blurry at the ends.
In this case, however, the new feed completely removes the top white bar to give space to the content. The navigation menu remains at the bottom of the screen.
This new thread is currently only accessible to a limited number of people and is still in testing. No official launch date has been announced so far.
Videos first
The Instagram feed update allows videos to be displayed in a larger format, but the social network still wants to work out a way to allow photos to be displayed without compromising their quality.
Although Instagram has clarified in recent months that its priorities are video content and messaging, Meta CEO Mark Zuckergberg said photos are still a big deal. important element of instagram and the goal is to make them accessible across the screen without repeating the failures of the past.
