A few days before World Emoji Day, on July 17, the Unicode 15.0 list of upcoming emojis was released. The series features 31 new images. Among them, a shake of the head, a push of the hands or even a donkey.
A focus on flora and fauna.
These new emojis are currently subject to approval. In September they must be validated before reaching the main messaging applications and our smartphones in 2023. However, previous listings have shown that the reasons are most of the time all validated.
This year an important place was given to fauna and flora. Users of Twitter, Messenger or WhatsApp will thus find a donkey, a moose, a goose, a black bird and even a jellyfish. On the plant side, a hyacinth, a ginger or a pea pod will join the available emojis.
Among the most classic models, a trembling face enters the catalogue. The “heart” pattern has been declined in new colors: light blue, gray and pink. Finally, two pushing hands are added (one on the right and one on the left).
Less illusion than at the beginning of the year
The Unicode 15.0 series will also add a fan, a comb, maracas, and a flute. Meanwhile, the Unicode 14.0 list, available in January, had made it possible to integrate a pregnant man emoji, a melting face or even a “troll”.
Whether any of these new emojis will become famous enough to appear in a lawsuit remains to be seen. This is what happens to the poop emoji, used by Elon Musk to making fun of the twitter bossParag Agrawal, who now appears in the social network’s complaint against the billionaire, following the cancellation of his offer to buy the platform.
