A few weeks after the start of the war in Ukraine, Russian state television laughingly evoked a possible nuclear attack on New York. And as of Monday, New Yorkers no longer laugh at such threats. Because the authorities of the American city have published an edifying video tutorial to follow in the event of a nuclear attack.
An official with the New York City Department of Emergency Management told the daily mail that it was a necessity: “We really didn’t want to put this off any longer.”
Meanwhile, the city’s mayor, Eric Adams, refused to call the clip “alarmist”, reports the Reuters news agency.
“So what do we do?”
However, the scenario is far from optimistic. “So there was a nuclear attack. Don’t ask me how or why, but [une bombe] touched us So what do we do?” the spokeswoman for the New York City Department of Emergency Management begins in the video.
The speaker then invites the inhabitants to take shelter inside a building, preferably a basement shelter, and away from windows and doors.
“If you were outside after the explosion, clean yourself up immediately,” he continues. “Take off your clothes and wash with soap.” Finally, the last instruction given to New Yorkers: follow the information published by the media and the authorities.
Having gone viral on social media, the video has been viewed more than half a million times since it was posted earlier this week.
