Netflix officially announced a few months ago the creation of a new subscription at a lower cost, in exchange for advertising. Although it has also just made public the loss of almost a million subscribers in the second quarter of 2022, the platform is looking for new ways of loyalty, including this offer.
The main lines of this new subscription are emerging little by little, specifically in a presentation of results made this July 19 by Netflix to its investors, and broadcast by the specialized media TechCrunch. The streaming giant has announced that not all content currently on its platform can be offered as part of this offer.
Some content not available
The Netflix executive did not detail the list of studios the company is talking to. However, information from Wall Street Journal mention Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Bros. These three movie giants are behind several popular content on Netflix, such as the history series. The crownor the romantic suspense series You.
The ad-supported Netflix subscription should officially launch in early 2023. To kick it off, the streaming giant has just partnered with Microsoft, which will take over ad management.
