Lawyers for Peiter Zatko, former head of social media security, have indicated that their client will respond favorably to the billionaire’s request.

Elon Musk has formally asked the former Twitter security chief, who recently accused the platform of lies, to provide documents and testify in the legal process against him against the social network. Peiter Zatko’s lawyers have indicated that their client will attend to this request.

In a document sent last month to two US regulators, as well as the Justice Department, the whistleblower blamed Twitter for its cybersecurity lapse. He also accused the San Francisco company’s leaders of deliberately publicly overestimating the scope of its fight against fake accounts and spam.

This latest statement is likely to strengthen the line of defense of Elon Musk, who claims to have given up on acquiring Twitter because the company lied to him about the proportion of these fake and spam accounts on the social network.

A statement on September 9

The businessman and his lawyers handed Peiter Zatko a summons this Saturday demanding all documents and communications in his possession relating to “the impact and effects of false accounts and spam on Twitter activity,” according to the file. The period considered is from January 1, 2019 to the date of receipt of the call.

The Tesla boss is also seeking the testimony of Peiter Zatko, whom he is subpoenaing for a deposition on September 9 at a location near his home in New Jersey. The complainant’s lawyers indicated that he would comply with this request, while specifying that his participation would be “involuntary.”

Elon Musk also asks the former security manager to draw up any documents related to measuring the number of monetizable daily active users (mDAU), a key indicator of the group’s performance.
