Content creators are definitely the preferred target of smartphone manufacturers. Honor launches its Honor 70 with advanced features to make original videos for networks.

TikTok, Reels, Shorts or a simple YouTube video have become everyday staples for many. Smartphone manufacturers have understood this and now they also want to benefit from it. With every new product launch, they only have one argument in their mouths: the video. But with endless configurations, ease of use, and surprise effects to spare for social media rendering to rise to the top and become the (preferred?) choice of young consumers.

Honor, in turn, throws herself into the bathtub. Huawei’s former little sister, who emancipated herself in 2020 to avoid US sanctions, has always made Millennials and GenZ her main target. Now independent, the Chinese company wants to expand its audience, but it does not forget its fundamentals.

With its Honor 70 presented this Friday in Berlin (Germany) at the IFA fair, Honor is clearly targeting vloggers and all budding videographers by offering them a mid-range model with advanced features.

An ambitious mid-range model

At a time when smartphones are beginning to bet on straight edges, the design of the Honor 70 has the merit of playing the difference with curved edges to offer more immersion when looking at the screen whose edges are limited to the maximum. The front camera is placed in a simple center punch at the top. Everything is quite thin (7.91 mm) and light (178 g), but also elegant, especially in the Crystal Silver version, a kind of iridescent white that gives the device a jewel-like appearance.

Behind its premium design is also a 6.67-inch HDR10+ compatible OLED display, with a 120Hz image refresh rate for smoother, more responsive scrolling, or even mobile gaming. . The fingerprint reader has been placed under the screen. Everything runs on Honor Magic UI 6.1, the home interface based on Android 12 with many custom settings.

The rear of the Honor 70 is adorned with a camera with rather large sensors placed in circles. A trend that can be found in multiple smartphones in 2022. Honor has thus placed its photosensors vertically: a dual 54-megapixel Sony IMX800 main photosensor (f/1.9), which wanted to be large (1/1.49 inches) to capture more light, a 2-megapixel depth sensor in the same bubble, and a 50-megapixel ultra wide angle and macro (up to 2.5 cm from the subject) in the one below. Up front, the Honor 70 sports a 32-megapixel sensor.

Inside the Honor 70, power is in order with a 5G-ready Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus processor capable of handling any slightly greedy app (especially mobile gaming). Two configurations are offered: 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 26GB of storage. On the autonomy side, Honor has equipped it with a 4800 mAh battery with 66W fast charging (charger included). Thus, it can recover 60% of the autonomy in 20 minutes and be fully charged in 45 minutes.

Everything for the creation of videos on social networks.

The great interest of this Honor 70, which wants to offer a mid-range smartphone with a tendency to the top of the category, is to look for a video with the arrival of functions to talk about the creativity of the users. The Chinese manufacturer has focused on the quality of its camera material, but also on the supporting artificial intelligence software to automatically beautify the image. It is difficult not to find yourself rather in your favor in photo or video thanks to the “divine” intervention of the AI…

The young brand wants to make a difference by offering multiple filming modes. Therefore, it is possible to record two HD video streams with the selfie camera and the camera on the back to film two people at the same time or two situations. It’s up to you whether you want to have the two shots side by side in the final video, one sequence embedded in the other, or two values of the same shot (wide shot and close-up).

The Honor 70’s autofocus also lets you track multiple subjects in a scene (up to 5 people) and choose where to focus for flawless playback. But the strong point of the smartphone that could appeal to all video enthusiasts is the mode solo cut. It will shoot two videos simultaneously, but with a subtlety: it is possible to record an entire scene while focusing on a single person. The result is two videos of the same sequence with the choice between subject tracking and a wider shot.

Honor 70 prices and availability

Honor’s smartphone is now available from 549 euros in Midnight Black (black), Emerald Green (green) and Crystal Silver (bright white). The latter is for sale exclusively on the Honor website.
