At least 10 people were killed and 18 are still missing as a result of an avalanche in the Himalayas on Tuesday (4), according to an updated balance sheet released by Indian police on Wednesday.
“Rescuers found 10 bodies,” Uttarakhand state police said on Twitter. And 14 people were rescued.
The five survivors were taken to the Uttarkashi county hospital.
The avalanche occurred on Tuesday morning near the summit of Draupadi ka Danda-II mountain at an altitude of 4,880 meters in Uttarakhand state.
Hit by the avalanche, the group consisted of 34 trainees, seven instructors, and a nurse assistant from the Nehru Mountaineering Institute.
Rescue efforts, which were interrupted at night due to torrential rain and its type in the region, resumed in the morning.
