At least 32 people were killed in a bus crash in India’s Pauri Garhwal region. All victims and 18 more injured were on their way to a wedding reception, but the driver lost control of the vehicle during a corner and crashed into a canyon, according to the Indian Express News website.
The accident occurred on Tuesday night (4), but the rescue operation only ended on Wednesday morning (5) when officials updated the figures. In the first place, 25 deaths were confirmed in the local press.
The bus, en route from Haridwar to Kadagaon in Pauri, crashed into a 500-meter-deep valley near the village of Simdi in Dhumakot district at around 8 pm.
A rescue team exhumed 30 bodies and found 20 injured, according to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). However, the two died on the way to the hospital.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the prime minister of Uttarakhand, said the government is making all the arrangements to rescue and help the injured.
