A 9-year-old boy died after falling from a mechanical bull in the Lobosillo district of Spain’s Murcia region. According to the newspaper El Mundo, the boy suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest and could not resist.
The case took place at around 10 pm (local time) on Saturday (8) during a birthday party. The mechanical bull was installed on San Antonio de Lobosillo street. According to eyewitnesses, the boy could not hold on to a sudden movement of the equipment and fell to the ground.
Other people, however, would notice that the child “fainted while riding the lure, and cardiac-respiratory arrest may have preceded the impact.”
The body of the victim, who was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute of Murcia, will be autopsied to determine the exact cause of death.
The newspaper La Opinion de Murcia reported that, according to Murcia City Council sources, the resident requested permission to use the public road where he would set up the mechanical bull to celebrate the 50th anniversary, but was denied.
The party was held on that street and wearing a mechanical bull even though it didn’t get permission from the City Council. Municipality sources state that the sanction process has been opened against this person “for not complying with the regulation”.
The Civil Guard launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances in which the minor’s death occurred and to determine whether the owner of the mechanical bull or the organizer of the party had any responsibility.
