Websites of some major airports in the United States briefly stopped working on Monday (10) following a cyberattack by a group of pro-Russian hackers.

This was a denial of service (DDOS) attack that involved shutting down a website by overloading it with traffic.

The actions affected airport websites in several major cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix and Saint Louis, after the pro-Russian hacking group known as KillNet published an electronic address list and encouraged its followers to attack them. .

DDOS attacks only affected the public portion of websites offering information about flights and services and did not affect operations.

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport said its website was “up and running following an early morning incident that made it inaccessible to the public.”

He added that the investigation into the causes of the incident is continuing. “Operations at the airport were never affected.”

Most sites seem to work normally after being temporarily disabled.

Last week, the KillNet group claimed responsibility for attacks on several US government websites and also targeted other countries that oppose Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

So far, the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has not commented on the case.
