Explosion in Baghdad 10 dead, more than 20 injured

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Ten people were killed and more than 20 injured in an explosion in eastern Baghdad on Saturday, according to health and safety sources.

Security sources said the explosion occurred in a garage near a football stadium and a cafe, when an explosive device attached to a vehicle detonated, leading to another explosion from a nearby gas tank.

Most of the victims were amateur football players in the neighborhood stadium.

A military statement said a tanker truck exploded in a garage in eastern Baghdad, causing multiple casualties, and security forces are investigating the cause of the explosion without providing further details.
