A family in Maryland, United States, got a frightening surprise while preparing for their traditional Halloween party. Because after the family ordered a coffin, they found the ashes of a dead woman inside.
Family member Brooke Wozniak told FOX 5 that the coffin was ordered from Facebook Marketplace. After finding the ashes, she decided to create a TikTok video seeking help to return her belongings to the woman’s family.
“Everyone was in shock,” Brooke said.
Wozniak shows in his TikTok video that in addition to the ashes, there are some documents placed under the cardboard inside the coffin.
These included a death certificate with Edith Crews’ name, her social security number, a George Washington University Hospital bracelet she was wearing, a photograph, and an envelope containing what the Wozniaks believed to be Edith’s ashes.
Sabrina Jones, the deceased woman’s granddaughter, discovered the video on TikTok and showed it to her mother.
Edith Crews Meredy was a 74-year-old community pastor who died of Covid-19 in January 2022.
“The fact that he’s gone doesn’t ease the pain, you know? He was my best friend. I loved my grandmother very much. I was the one who took her to George Washington University and dropped her off. But I mean, I’m grateful for that. [a família Wozniak] We kept it and got it back. I thank God for that,” Jones added.
FOX 5 watched Edith’s children meet the Wozniak family to thank them and get their mother’s papers.
