“We will not sacrifice our climate commitments for Russia’s energy threat,” French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday during his speech during the Climate Conference (COP-27), reaffirming a number of proposals for the theme.

At the event, Macron said that “we must continue the fight to mitigate” the effects of climate change. “Get our economies out of coal and help developing countries do that as quickly as possible,” he said.

“I would like to salute the courage of international leaders who have taken up the loss and damage debate on the harmful effects of climate change. They are right,” Macron said. In his view, the fight for climate is inseparable from the fight for biodiversity, and his country supports a ban on any exploration of the seabed, an issue he says will lead to international forums.
