Britain freezes nearly $21 billion in assets in Russia

Russian assets frozen by the UK as part of sanctions against Moscow for the invasion of Ukraine amounted to £18.4 billion (approximately $21.5 billion at current exchange rates), data released on Thursday (10).

The British government claims that this amount shows “its opposition to Russia for the illegal occupation of Ukraine” and states that this amount is almost 6 billion pounds more than any other sanction program.
