Two people died and three were injured in an accident involving a Tesla vehicle in Chaozhou, China. After the video of the incident recorded by security cameras was watched millions of times on social networks and the accident was attributed to a “breakdown” in the vehicle, Elon Musk’s company made a statement saying it would assist the Chinese police in their investigations. .

The accident was registered on 5 November. According to local media reports, the driver, identified as Zhan (55), lost control while parking the company’s “Model Y” vehicle, driving at high speed for 2 kilometers, colliding with two motorcycles and two bicycles.

A high school student and a motorcycle driver died in the accident.

According to the Chinese newspaper Jimu News, local police ruled out the possibility that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Authorities have yet to find out what caused the accident.

The publication also denied that a Tesla branch in the country pointed out that the car reached a maximum speed of 150 km / h and that the brake was never applied by the driver.

In a note republished by Reuters late tonight, Tesla said it would assist Chinese officials with the investigation.

The company said, “The police are seeking an independent agency’s assessment to uncover the truth behind this accident. We will provide all necessary assistance,” and underlined the demand “beware of rumours.”
