Israeli forces killed a 19-year-old Palestinian woman near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank on Monday, the Palestinian health ministry said.
“Sanaa al-Tall was shot in the head by Israeli occupation soldiers in Beitunya at dawn,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Israeli army said in a statement that it opened fire on a “suspicious vehicle” that was speeding towards soldiers during a “counter-terrorism operation” in Bethunya to arrest a wanted Palestinian. He added that an investigation has been opened.
Violence has escalated in recent months in the West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967.
After the deadly attacks in Israel in March and April, the Israeli state army carried out more than 2,000 operations in the West Bank, mainly in the Jenin and Nablus regions.
