Farah Cacanindin had just become a mother in a strange way. While on her way by taxi for a routine checkup at her obstetrician, she felt severe pain and broke her purse. However, the 26-year-old woman did not expect her baby to be born on top of the vehicle.
According to the British newspaper The Sun, the woman was five minutes from arriving at the clinic when the time of delivery was brought forward. Despite the fact that the driver of the taxi she was traveling in called Stoke Mandeville Hospital for help, it was already too late and the baby, Naia, was born inside the vehicle.
Quickly, Farah wrapped it in the jacket she was wearing. and went to Stoke Mandeville to have her and the baby checked.
The woman was very happy to have her daughter. However days later she received some not very pleasant news, she had to pay £30 for the journey, plus an additional £90 ($100) charge for post-delivery carriage cleaning. “You screwed up,” the driver told him according to the British press.
“I understand I screwed up, but it’s a bit cheeky to accuse me. It was the fastest delivery of my life. My water broke five minutes into the trip. The driver asked me if I wanted him to stop, but I told him to go ahead because I thought he would arrive before he was born,” Cacanindin said.
Farah, surprised by the driver’s attitude, pointed out that the cab company is at the end of her block. “I see the van I gave birth in right outside my house,” she said.
The woman said at one point in the journey the driver asked her if she wanted him to stop, but she told him to keep driving because she thought she could get to the hospital before her daughter was born.
Eventually the baby girl was born in the vehicle, with the final surprise being a $100 “cleaning” fee.
