Former President Donald Trump’s Republican Party gained control of the US House of Representatives, giving conservatives a chance to tackle President Joe’s agenda in the next two years, according to media projections Wednesday.
The Republican majority in the lower house of Congress will be much smaller than the party had hoped, which failed to seize control of the Senate in last week’s midterm elections.
According to CNN International, the forecast indicates that the Republicans will take 218 seats, forming a majority and gaining control of the House. Despite the victory, the performance of former President Trump’s party is lower than the initially expected “red wave” in the country’s elections.
The Republican victory coincides with the end of Democrat Nancy Pelosi’s second term as Speaker of the House in January 2023.
