A man walking on a shore excursion in Wales encountered hundreds of white-shelled creatures clinging to a tree trunk. However, he later discovered that this is an interesting treasure connected with the world of gastronomy.
According to the British website NorthWales Live, the mysterious creatures were actually Gooseneck mussels, a very common crustacean in the region and consumed as a culinary delicacy, costing 515 BRL per kilo.
While on vacation, Dave McGirr was surprised to find the mussels clinging to a 20-foot tree trunk. He immediately started taking pictures. I learned from a Google search that mussels are a highly sought after seafood item.
“I discovered that they are Gooseneck mussels, described as rare ‘alien’ sea creatures. They are considered a delicacy,” the tourist said in a post on social networks. According to him, his discovery was worth around R$25,700.
Rare crustacean species are appreciated in countries such as Portugal and Spain, where they are found at prices reaching R$1,900 per kilo.
Photos of Dave circulated on social media, but many believed the creatures looked so strange that they came from another planet.
A follower shouted, “The aliens have landed!” made his comment. “When you get close, you can see that they are like little octopus or squid,” another follower said.
