Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden have no plans to meet for now, the Kremlin said on Friday, after Russia’s deputy foreign minister said Moscow is not excluding high-level talks between the two countries.
“There is no summit for now,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said earlier that as an upcoming summit on nuclear proliferation between the two powers approaches in Cairo, Russia does not rule out the possibility of further high-level talks with the United States on “strategic stability”.
However, Ryabkov stated that Ukraine is not an issue to be discussed with the United States. He said the two sides had radically opposing positions.
