Man trying to break scuba diving record collapses and is rescued

Spanish diver Miguel Lozano, second in the world in apnea diving (without an oxygen cylinder), shared his sad recovery after collapsing while trying to break the category record, using social media.

He lost consciousness when he reached a depth of 125 meters in the Honduran Sea needing help to get out of the water.

It was pulled out of the water in about 30 seconds and first aid was given.

The diver added “captions” to the post showing some of the protocols used by the rescue team to get him out of the water safely.

In the footage, one of his co-workers can be seen covering Lozano’s mouth to keep him from swallowing water. Another unties the diver from the rope that attaches them to the boat. Soon, the five divers push him up together.

On the surface, a team is ready to welcome you.

In the broadcast, Lozano explained that such accidents are rare but can happen. “As you can see, I wasn’t exposed to any consequences,” he said.

The record for the greatest depth in diving in apnea has been held by Russian Alexey Molchanov since 2013. He reached a depth of 131 meters at a competition in the Bahamas in July 2021.
