Bride cancels wedding due to burns: ‘It melted my face’

A bride from North Carolina in the United States had to call off her wedding after an accident in the kitchen six days before the event. According to the New York Post, Brenley Davis was having french fries for dinner with her fiancee Justin, but the pan filled with oil overheated.

Realizing the possibility of an explosion, the bride grabbed the pot and ran to throw it out of the house. But along with the speed, a reaction turned the oil into flames that reached the woman. He had second- and third-degree burns to his face, arms, ribs, chest, legs, and feet.

He recovered quickly, staying in the hospital for several months while undergoing treatment and surgery. The dream of marriage was postponed.

He recently married his beloved fiancee finally and proudly displayed his scars.

“I felt like my whole face was melting. I was so scared. I was making french fries. I thought I had turned off the oil but it had been on the stove for an hour over medium-high heat. I took the lid off. I closed it, turned it off and put it away. I took the pot out of the fire. We opened the windows and the back door, but the pot spontaneously caught fire.” and the flames were so high that it burned the cabinets,” he said.

Brenley said the shock numbed most of the pain at first, but when she was hospitalized, her injuries turned into excessive swelling and blisters.

He underwent physical therapy to move his arms for three months.

“My skin was really red and I still had blisters, but overall the worst part was my mental health,” she recalled.
