A coup is the illegal seizure of power with the aim of removing those who hold power or modifying its use.

The coups are independent of any political ideologyas there were blows from both left and right.

Whoever commits the coup seeks remove high levels of power from office. In this way, the putschist or the destituent wants remove the president from office and his cabinet, either leaving them in the background, out of government or keeping it without any real power.

Even the coup can come directly from the government, as happened on December 7, 2022 in Peru. Also, this form is better known as “palace coup” or palace coup.

Factors affecting a coup

Coups are not always carried out through the Armed Forces. They usually play an important role in the coup, both by carrying it out and by giving their support, but this is not always the case.

Others add as a possibility of a coup the removal of democratic institutions or the suppression of laws without going through due process.
