A police officer was killed and 10 injured in a suicide attack on a police station in Bandung, Indonesia’s West Java province, on Wednesday.
Suntana, the provincial police chief, who, like many Indonesians, has a single name, said the attack occurred “when a man tried to approach officers with a knife and suddenly there was an explosion”.
A police officer and the terrorist himself were killed in the explosion, and 10 people, including a civilian, were injured. After the attack, police found a second deactivated explosive device.
The reason for the attack will be the new penal code approved this week. A note calling for war on security forces and calling the law an “unsafe product” was found on a motorcycle driven by the terrorist, who was located close to the scene. chipboard????????
The new legislation covers several “moral” laws, making it illegal for individuals to engage in extramarital sex, for example.???????? reported the BBC. The penalty can be up to one year in prison.
It’s still a crime insulting the president and demonstrating against the ideology of the state. The rules will come into effect in three years and will apply to Indonesians and foreigners alike.
