He has lost faith. The famous English businessman Karl Baxter was reckless and acquired, before the start of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, 18,000 “England World Champion 2022” T-shirts, with a view to reselling them when Gareth Southgate’s side were crowned champions.

According to the British newspaper The Mirror, Baxter trusted the Three Lions so much that he did not hesitate to buy the white jackets and then record the message and also the image of the cup.

His Poole-based company, Wholesale Clearance UK, bought all the shirts and expected to make around $160,000 (£195,000), as selling them would bring in around $440,000 (£360,000), while buying them would cost $280,000 (£230,000). ).

However, the businessman didn’t count on England to be knocked out by France in the quarter-finals after losing 2-1. “I’m devastated. The first performances impressed me and I was convinced that this time we could win. A supplier offered them to me and I said yes. Now I have 18,000 shirts saying we won and I don’t know what to do with them,” he said days after the removal.

In this way the English team won only one World Cup in its entire history, conquering it in 1966, when it beat Germany 4-2 in the final. After that he never made it to the deciding match despite coming close in both 1990 and 2018, when he reached the semi-finals.
