An unusual fact led to the evacuation of a hospital in France. An 88-year-old male patient was admitted to the emergency department with a cannonball stuck in his anus.
According to the Var-Matin website, the man told medical personnel at the emergency room in Sainte-Musse in Toulon that the artifact was demilitarized.
Despite this, the hospital management chose to partially evacuate the area and contact a team specializing in bombs to examine the old man. The object, which is about 20 cm long and 9 cm in diameter, was to appear in the First World War.
The surgeon responsible for the operation stated that the bullet was removed from the abdomen. “He rarely leaves the way he entered,” he told the French website.
After the operation, the hospital management reported that the patient recovered and there was no risk of death.
